“KSTARTUP Hall” will be opened with Korean startups gathered in one place for the first time at an international startup exhibition.

The Korean Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Park, Young-sun, MSS) announced that the “K-Startup Hall” will be opened for four weeks from October 19 (Monday) until November 13 (Friday) in Finland’s “SLUSH 2020” event, which is Europe’s largest startup conference.

SLUSH was launched in 2008 and is now Europe’s representative startup event where startups and investors gather from around the world. However, due to the COVID-19 spread concerns, the organizers decided to hold it fully online this year.

It was held for two days offline last year. However, this year, it will be held for about two months and half from September 22 (Tuesday) until December 3 (Thursday) given that it is held online.

Being online, it is expected to become a forum during which Korean startups can show their innovativeness and technological competency to global buyers, participants, and observers beyond Europe, which has mainly participated in SLUSH so far. For the startups, it can equally serve to create new business opportunities.

Until now, when startup exhibitions were held outside of Korea, there was no single Korean startup hall with all Korean startups gathered, but each local government or organization held their separate, scattered company booths that the publicity effect was regrettably lost.

However, Korean startups will be gathered together in one place under the banner of “K-Startup Hall” for the first time at SLUSH 2020, thereby maximizing the publicity effect of Korean startups.

A total of 40 Korean startups will participate in the “KSTARTUP Hall”. They were each selected by five startup supporting agencies*, including KISED and GCCEI.

The selected startups have created their individual online booths in the “KSTARTUP Hall” installed as an online exhibition hall operated by SLUSH 2020. There, the startups will get to present digital contents including videos introducing their company.

The hall is expected to provide the startups with the opportunity to make their top-class innovative technologies widely known worldwide and furthermore to draw investment by networking with buyers and venture capital, etc.

In addition to the Korean startup booths, the current state of Korean startups will be explained inside the “KSTARTUP Hall”.
The hall is also connected with the Website of COMEUP 2020, which is a global startup festival of the largest scale held in Korea, so that investors from around the world would take interest in the Korean startup ecosystem.
