A seminar tour would be held to broaden the understanding of the system among local companies and governments that will be the actual users of special districts, and to help them participate in the districts more easily. The MSS will operate ‘help desks’ and designate ‘local special district officers’ to offer one-on-one customized consulting.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS; Minister Hong Jong-haak) will host a seminar tour on regulation-free special districts from January 16 (Wednesday) to February 1 (Friday) to encourage companies to participate in the regulation-free special districts to be first introduced in April and to help local governments establish relevant plans smoothly.
  * A detailed schedule will be posted on the press release board of the MSS website (http://www.mss.go.kr).

The seminars will take place in 14 cities and provinces, and ‘help desks’ will be operated to provide one-on-one customized consulting to businesspeople and interested citizens to facilitate their understanding of the new concept.

During the seminars, the MSS will explain how to establish plans regarding special districts, which prospective users have been curious about since the proclamation of the Special District Act (October 16, 2018), and future operation plans in a Q&A format.

For those who cannot attend the seminars, the MSS will also make and provide a promotion video on the regulation-free zones through the website (www.bizinfo.go.kr). In addition, the ministry will designate an officer for each special district under regional SME offices to provide answers to additional questions from companies that intend to participate in the special districts. The seminar schedule can be checked on the MSS website, and anyone who is interested in the regulation-free special districts is welcome to join.

The MSS will provide the local governments advance consulting and assistance in the establishment of special district plans from late January. The ministry will also make thorough preparations so that the special districts can be designated through sufficient deliberation after the local governments submit their special district plans in April when the Special District Act comes into effect.
