The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS, Minister OH Youngju) announced that it held the Pan-Government Startup Global Expansion Launching Ceremony* on Tuesday, June 24, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul, and that nine ministries will collaborate to officially support the overseas expansion of promising startups.
Held under the slogan “Start Up, Together,” the event was attended by over 200 participants, including MSS Vice Minister KIM Sung-sup, officials from nine ministries*, National Assembly member KIM Dong-ah of the Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs, and Startups Committee, representatives from the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development and program-specific implementing agencies, as well as companies participating in the 2025 Global Accelerating Support Program. The event reaffirmed the collective commitment across ministries to support startups. * Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Korea AeroSpace Administration, Korean Intellectual Property Office. At the launching ceremony, MSS presented past achievements and best practices in supporting startups, emphasizing the importance of cross-ministerial collaboration. It also introduced inter-ministerial startup support projects such as the Global Accelerating Support Program and Challenge! K-Startup, along with this year's implementation plans. DeepSales (CEO KIM Jin-sung), a participant in the 2024 Global Accelerating Support Program, also attended and shared its overseas expansion achievements and experiences. In addition, a symbolic performance was held in which flags representing each ministry’s program were placed into a box bearing the event slogan, delivering a message of unity among the nine ministries toward the shared goal of global expansion for startups. The act also expressed their commitment to serving as a milestone in the journey of startups leaping from the domestic market to the global stage. During the subsequent networking session, officials from relevant ministries, implementing agencies, and participating companies engaged in discussions, exchanging questions and answers about business items, global expansion plans, and their determination moving forward. Meanwhile, the Global Accelerating Support Program is a project that supports promising startups by providing domestic and international accelerating programs and overseas expansion funding, helping to facilitate their global growth and market entry. This year, the nine ministries are providing tailored support for the global expansion of 148 promising startups, leveraging each ministry’s expertise and global capabilities in their respective industrial sectors. In particular, MSS plans to strengthen specialized support focused on the U.S. market, which is rich in AI infrastructure and a global leader, to boost the growth and global competitiveness of domestic AI startups. MSS Vice Minister KIM Sung-sup stated, “The nine ministries will come together as one to open a new chapter of collaboration in supporting startups. We will unite our capabilities and organically link our resources to become a strong and reliable partner for startups.” |
