December K-Shopping Festa Opening Ceremony to Be Held at Hongdae for Three Days

SEJONG – The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS, Minister OH Youngju) has announced that the opening ceremony for the December K-Shopping Festa will be held from December 6 (Friday) to 8 (Sunday), featuring a wide range of promotional and sales booths showcasing products from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and small business owners.

This opening ceremony marks the launch of the K-Shopping Festa, which runs from December 1 to 28, and aims to promote a culture of thoughtful consumption by encouraging the purchase of products from SMEs and small businesses. The event is designed to express gratitude to loved ones during the year-end season. It will take place on Hongdae Red Road (R1, R2), a popular cultural street known for its vibrant atmosphere, youth energy, and international appeal.

In R1, visitors can explore a variety of unique products from small business owners in the lifestyle sector, including the LICORN (Lifestyle & Local Innovation uniCORN) & K-Shopping Festa Products Sales Booth. They can also experience the passion and challenges of young entrepreneurs at the Young Merchants Booth and enjoy the warmth of the Food Market, which will feature products from regional representative companies, adding to the festive atmosphere.

In R2, attendees can take part in a popularity vote, as well as tasting and experience events for approximately 100 participating products. There will also be a booth dedicated to promoting K-beauty products with high export potential, aimed at boosting SME exports.

Additionally, the event will feature a livestream shopping area, where a special 15% discount coupon will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Influencers will host live broadcasts on an exclusive channel (Grip), providing consumers with the opportunity to experience high-quality products from small business owners in real-time.

The opening day will also include entertainment, with a mini-concert by singer Hong Isak on December 6, busking performances by popular bands, a non-alcoholic mulled wine tasting, and promotional events in nearby shopping areas. These festivities will continue until December 8.

Minister OH Youngju is expected to attend the opening ceremony to visit the booths and support the participating SMEs and small business owners.
