For 100-year-old stores, MSS issues a certificate, officers a signboard and provides various kinds of support such as marketing, consulting and financial assistance. MSS plans to disseminate their management knowhow to general microenterprises by using lecturers and issuing brocures.
MSS selected 16 innovative stores aged over 30 years in wholesale, retail, and food industries as 100-Year-Old Stores after going through an evaluation committee on Aug. 7th, 2018. The evaluation committee selected them out of 20 stores that passed the previous document and onsite evaluations based on reputation of the applying stores, etc. The stores engaged in wholesale and retail industries(7) and the food industry(9). By region, 6 stores were located in Seoul, 4 in North Jeonglla province, 2 in Daegu, 1 in Busan, 1 in Gangwon, 1 in South Kyeongsang province, and 1 in South Chungcheong province.

The 100-Year-Old Stores program was designed to expand a success model of microenterprises that realize the value of sustainable growth amid the vicious cyle of frequent startups and business closures. The stores were selected based on their professionalism, product, service and marketing differentiation among stores aged more than 30 years in wholesale, retail and food industries, since the industries are classified as overcrowded.

For 100-year-old stores, MSS issues a certificate, officers a signboard and provides various kinds of support such as marketing, consulting and financial assistance. MSS plans to disseminate their management knowhow to general microenterprises by using lecturers and issuing brocures. An MSS officer said that the MSS will strive to build the capacity of microenterprises and enhance their sustainability, since they are the major target for the income-led growth policy of the Moon Jae-in administration. He added that it will lay the foundation for building a virtuous cylce of microenterprise business by successfully implementing the program.

The would-be 100-year-old stores can apply for the program through the headquarters of Small Enterprises and Marketing Services and Small Business Development Centers nationwide at any time. Relevant information is available at www.semas.or.kr and by calliing an integrated call center at 1357.
